My uncle has a mosin nagant 91/30 The last round will not load. When the bolt face hits the round it pushes the nose downward. I removed the mag and cleaned, didn't help. I believe it is the upper spring under the follower is warn out not having enough upward force to counter act the force of the bolt.. Numrich does not have the part. Does anyone know where to find a replacement for it. Or could it be something else? Thanks

I suggest addressing this question to the good folks at C&R forum here."There are only two things we should fight for. One is the defense of our homes and the other is the Bill of Rights. War for any other reason is simply a racket."
Excerpt from a speech delivered in 1933, by Major General Smedley Butler, USMC.

Plenty of Mosins in Norcal. Borrow someone's spring and see if that fixes it.Because milsurp.Comment

You can always try Sarco or Liberty Tree Collectors. I bought an entire new trigger assembly from Liberty Tree when my Hungarian M44 couldn't pass the "phone book test" aka hair trigger. Whoever owned it before me did some Bubba work on the trigger and screwed it up. It took care of the issue. Mosins are so cheap, you can usually fix anything on them with a little elbow grease, bending or some cheap parts.NRA Certified Metallic Cartridge Reloading Instructor, Shotgun Instructor and Range Safety Officer

There is a thing they used to do to make rounds feed better, especially to allow rounds to simply be thrown into the receiver one at a time without having to push them into the magazine, shooting, throwing in another round, shooting, etc.
The same thing would resolve any issues with rounds nose diving. Bend the follower up in the front so that its front nearly touches the bullet, giving it a slight half moon shape.
Also make sure that the back of the follower has a nice rounded surface, so that the Rim of the case doesn't catch on it. If there is any chance the rim may be catching, as you push the bolt forward, the follower would aim the round down.
This will ensure that the round is aiming slightly up as it is being pushed forward.Last edited by MosinVirus; 02-11-2014, 6:42 PM.Hobbies: bla, bla, bla... Bought a Mosin Nagant... Guns, Guns, Guns...Comment
