    1911 hammer follow

I have been working on 1911 pistols for a long time now. I have run into an issue that dispite my best efforts I can not cure.

Hammer follows when running the slide as fast as I can, it ONLY happens when the trigger is NOT depressed. When I depress the trigger and run the slide it will not happen. The ONLY way this does not happen is when I set the leaf spring sear leg and disco leg to make the trigger pull over 6.5lbs. I have used a hammer file to true the hammer to 90 degrees, checked and rechecked, cut the sear nose primary angle to mate with the sear, disconnector is new because the stockl one was too short and that is what I assumed was causing the hammer follow issue. the ONLY thing I can think is that the pin holes are off......help.

Dam. Thats interesting. I am trying to figure that problem out. Have you tried a different disco or sear or hammer other than the new ones you just put in?

Me thinks it's time to try our different parts until it starts making sense.

Or like you said. Dem holes is in da wrong place.

I have a hard time thinking holes are in the wrong place unless it was bubbafied.
I've noticed over the years that the geometry can be wildly different for various manufacturers.

adjust the over travel screw - the trigger shoe is slapping the disconnector... or something like that.

Do you mean running the slide with no rounds being fed? That is common, and the only cure is to not do it, or install a lighter trigger. The slide inertia is being transferred to the triggers mass, causing the trigger to trip the sear. I have a Detonics Combat Master that did that until I put a lighter trigger in.

Might be the trigger bouncing if it's only happening when it's not depressed. Maybe try a lighter trigger, or try to isolate the trigger so it is held forward when dropping the slide. It's not all that common but it can/does happen. Does it slip off the hooks if you "boost" it? If you can't push it forward your geometry is probably good. (Sounds like you set all that already)

Git it handled, Basically had to gut the RIA, parts were out of spec. So much for questioning my ability. Good parts go a LONG way.
