So, getting ready to start a couple of VZ builds, if any of you have these kits and are looking to figure out CA compliance, I may have a suggestion. I picked up a MMG from Irvington Arms yesterday, very happy with both so a thumbs up to MonsterMan for the grip and of course one to IA for their helpfulness as well.
The MMG wood grip for the AK can be modified to fit the VZ, and with a wood stock, might look just as good. This just requires some clearance at the top of the grip on the mating surface to the trigger guard that comes with the kits so the lip can set in the top of the grip itself. Other than that, it looks like a good match with the receiver and there is US made Oak furniture available to get a reasonable match, though I do not know from what the MMG is made, looks close to my oak desk though.
I have folding stocks so there is the OAL issue to deal with still but given the MMG solution, I might go with a US made stock in Oak but would rather mount it per original specs, not the method used with the stock sold at the link provided below. So I guess that leaves one issue to be resolved no matter which way I go.
US made wood furniture here.
