    Ruger sp101 questions...

I just picked up a LNIB sp101 and have some plans for it. I am going to install a Wolff spring set, Meprolite sight, and bob the hammer. I would also like to have the thing bead blasted to obtain a duller finish. Is this a gun that is easy to disassemble/assemble or do I need to take it to my local smith?

This gun is real easy to break down. Remove the grip, use a pin to lock the spring assemble in a compressed state and it just pops right out. Then you drive out the pin that holds the cylinder in place and you can pop that out as well.

It should all be in the manual.

To get the cylinder off the crane, you will need a tool that looks like a screwdriver with a notch in the middle of the blade. I have the exact special tool for this but you are a little far away. So here it is at Brownells:

If you bought the gun used and don't have the manual you can download one here.
