Stupid question on cleaning

I am sorry to admit I own but one gun, a Springfield 1911. It is for home defense, always has a full mag but not always a round in the chamber. It rarely goes to the range. On a daily basis it often moves through the house to a variety of discreet, handy locations.
My question is this: how often should I clean this weapon? Is field stripping enough or is detailed breakdown necessary?

Depending on how dusty your home is. I'd say a wipe once a week, with a field strip every three to six months.

Clean after you go to the range. Which you should try to do as often as possible to keep your motor skills up.
