Problems with S&W Model 41

Well today was my first day out with my new to me Model 41. I know its an old guy, A-series, but it shot well with two exceptions. The pin near the trigger kept creeping out. I was going to put some loctite on but thought I would ask first. Here is a pic with an arrow to it in case I misnamed it.

So would it be okay to put something on it or do I need to take this to a gunsmith?

Send it in to S-W they'll fix it up. Probably needs a going over anyway.

Or phone S-W customer service and ask them to send a new pin out and put that in.

I don't think it's a good idea to lock tight pins BTW.

I have several A-prefix 41's...

I have several early 41's, a couple of which I shoot a lot, and I've never had that pin walk on any of mine... I would agree that you should call S&W's Customer Service Dept. and ask them what they think. Maybe they are directional and need to be put in from a certain side like on a 1911? I don't know but you could certainly start by asking questions. Good luck! I love Model 41's. I always take one when I go shooting. A-prefix 41's are of excellent quality. Please share the outcome, I'm curious...

loctite is a bad idea on anything that pivots. it may also lock the trigger. never use red on anything that might need disassembly in normal service.

I was hoping to keep it closer to home. Anyone know a good gunsmith in the San Bernardino or Riverside area?

I called S&W today and they said I should swege the pin. I took it to Danforth Gunsmithing in Riverside. He was very polite. I told what the problem was and gave the same recommendation S&W did. So I had him do while I waited. He gave some tips and I was on my way. I am going to try it on Thursday. If it goes well I will take it back and have it go through the gun for me.
