I wish there was one in SoCal as well.

Closest gunsmith schools to SoCal are...

Lassen Community College in Susanville, CA.

            Yavapai College in Prescott, AZ.
Gunsmithing is the routine maintenance, repair, and modification of firearms. Gunsmiths identify worn or defective parts and replace them with new ones. They must be aware of issues specific to certain models and manufacturers in order to resolve them. Sometimes, gunsmiths modify firearms for competitive or other purposes specified by their clients.

Whether you are attending college for the first time, returning to college, preparing to enter the job market, transferring to a four-year college, upgrading workforce skills or just taking a course for pleasure, Yavapai College is here to help you successfully complete your goals.

I went through the Yavapai College gunsmithing program (Prescott AZ.)almost 20 years ago. Back then, it was a well rounded program, I have not kept in touch with them and have no idea how well the program is supported now. Good luck with checking out the available programs, I think Gun Digest still lists the schools in the back of their issues.

I did the Lassen program in susanville. Very in depth, did the full 2 year program, 8 hours a day five days a week of nothing but gunsmithing school.

It's gotten even better since I left, they got Bob Dunlap back up there teaching again, and he's probably the best gunsmith in the country, that guy can work miricles on anything.

I have working on guns for a while - but I would want to learn more.

In the PC community college courses or adult what coures would be best. Machine Shop - Welding - or what you you reccomend.
PLEASE WEAR EYE PROTECT & PROTECTIVE GEAR IN SHOP!!!!!! You can order another part from from manufacturer, but you can't order another finger or eye from your mother & father.

***This DOES NOT constitute GOOD or SANE legal - professional gunsmithing - psychiatric MD - tax - accounting -gardening advice. Please contactact qualified a professional in their repective specialties.*** AWHHH go ahead and mix match specialities that could be funny!!!!!
