    slow rust blueing help!

I have blued a,lyman plains pistol and am trying some other parts . Now after boiling them for 30 min the parts still have alot of red oxide on them. The first couple of rounds it turned to black oxide and when I did the barrel I did not have this problem.
I am using brownells classic rust blueing. Cleaned with alcohol before and am using non latex gloves . Im using the same pot and tongs about 8 months have past since do the other parts.

You could get some 0000 steel or bronze wool and "card" it with a little gun oil. Clean off with alcohol and repeat until you get a desired finish.

Sometimes that happens with different types of steel alloys when rust bluing.

You also need to make sure to let it sit for min of 12 hours in a warm area (needs to stay at or above room temp of 70 F) before doing the next coat. You have to make sure the area is humid but not steam room humid where moisture will condense on the surface, that will make excessive rust. IF you can't make a humidity box then run the shower full hot, steam up the bathroom then hang it in the room AFTER the steam clears and water has condensed and close the door.

Like the others said just go through normal carding process and continue on.

DO NOT USE OIL until you have finished the last coat otherwise you can ruin the process and have to start from scratch.

You will need to do about 6 to 10 coats to get the proper color and fine finish.
