Got this .223 barrel need to knock off the machine marks to dress it up, without tearing rifle down.

Do you want it mirror finished from the outside edge of the barrel to the bore or do you just want to clean up the crown?Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

I would suggest very fine tool makers stones. i.e 400 to 600 grit Giesswein EDM blue. Used very carefully as to not damage the crown. Then scotch bright to even out the lines. These stone cut fast hold their shape but don't remove to much material. they are great for cleaning up a surface without changing the dimensions to much.
Ideally you would want to remove the barrel from the action and set it up in a lathe. Now there are always Mason's tool too. he makes a very nice no lath crown tool the work better and faster then a lathe. Problem is you get what you pay for and his tools are not cheepComment
