    Dan Wesson part needed

My neighbor has a Dan Wesson Revolver, Interchangable barreltype. (I cannot find a model #)
Google search provided little help. Numrich schematics don't show enough detail.
For discussion, I call the missing part, a cylinder stop

When the cylinder is open, there is nothing to keep the cylinder from sliding when you push the extractor plunger.
1- What is the part called?
2- Where might I find it?

    Thank you!
Actually I only started collecting Milsurps 3 years ago. I think I might own about 24...They're cheaper than guns that will most likely never get the opportunity to kill somebody...

I belong to the group that uses firearms, and knows which bathroom to use.

Tis better to have Trolled & lost, Than to never have Trolled, at all.

My old shooting partner had a DW 357; one of the first made in the 1970's. It suffered from the malady of having too much clearance on the cylinder stop and when opened to eject the shells, the cylinder moved rearward. He wound up selling the gun.

The cylinder stop is the small projection on the left side of the revolver, located just above and between the trigger and the grip. I'm not sure if the stop is a press fit or not but I'd advise seeking the advice of a pistolsmith that's familiar with the DW design to see if it can be repaired.

You may try contacting CZ and talk to them about replacement parts and service. I don't know how current this info is, but you might want to give it a try: For parts contact Genny at 607.336.1174 and for service or repairs try 607.336.1174 ext 24.

        I think that's it.
The half moon shaped piece on the gun parts corp diagram.
Looks like it would sit on the rear of the crane and keep the cylinder on the crane.

I just pulled my DW model 15 out and there is a bump on the side plate of the frame that stops the cylinder.
If your frame were spring, the cylinder would be able to skip past the stop...

Numrich lists the crane as SOLD OUT...

CZ's website kinda sucks. No real parts & not even an email address.

In your picture of the gun, it has the same bump that stops the rearward movement of the cylinder on my gun.
Is the crane bent in such a way that your cylinder stop bump is not stopping the cylinder?

If you look real close at the second picture, it appears the cylinder stop is missing from the side plate. I have seen these come loose and disappear in the past. Numrich's diagram doesn't show it as a separate part. When DW was making revolvers, you could order that part and either solder it in or use some kind of aerospace retaining compound.
Maybe find a sideplate, or fabricate the piece and fit it.

His second picture is so poor that I thought the dark spot WAS the cylinder stop.
Perhaps you are right that it is just a void where the cylinder stop should be.
If he were to take a better picture at an angle like my 2nd picture, we could have a better idea what he really has going on...

Yeah. It's a little "D" shaped piece of steel. One of those parts that NOBODY wants to pay what it takes to actually make, fit, and finish.

Correct Kendog. Numrich sold them for $4.75, guess that why they sold out.

My neighbor is a handy guy, just not w/ guns. I'll explain the issue, he might have an idea of what he'll want to do.

                      Thanks Guys!
