Done a reblue of a barrel??

Good Day,

I just received two firearms, that are really old. From what I can tell they are both from the 1930's. One is a Model 69A and the other is a Springfield (J. Stephens) side by side in 16 gauge.

Both of the barrels and actions are in a real big need of being redone. I am thinking of doing the cold blue that is available. "

Does anyone one have any experience with it? Or using any of the different brands?

Both guns I'd rust blue. Cold blue leaves a lot to be desired. and it will rust again quite quickly if not kept oiled.

Rust bluing or browning takes longer but the results are top notch. and the finish is actually harder then hot salts bluing.

Agree cold bluing was really made as a "touch up" for hiding small scratches, is not wear or rust resistant.

Rust Bluing is the way to go if you have the time but minimal tools.
