    gas block install issue

I'm in the process of trying to install the bulgy gas block on my saiga 7.62x39. I got the GB press just far enough where the GB is starting to go over the gas port. The GB just doesn't want to move anymore. Its to the point where I'm bending my jigs and barrel starts to bend. I also tried to press it off and that just won't budge either. I didn't measure the gb opening. It slipped on the same way on all my other builds. When the GB does moved it popped. Any solutions? Freeze it maybe? Thanks in advance

It sounds like you may have to cut it off. The gas block doesn't need to be that tight. As far as the measurements go that should have been done. My guess is that the gas block was too small and it started to gall when you were pressing it on. You really need to take it off and check the size difference, size on size should be sufficient for the gas block. You are going to pin it in place anyway and being that tight once it is pressed on and it isn't aligned you will never be able to rotate it into alignment without destroying it. You might try setting it up to press it off and putting some pressure on it and then heating it up and hopefully it will pop off. Did you use any lube when pressing it on?

Break out a tourch, heat it up a little and soak it in oil. Then heat it up again and press it off. The sand your barrel down to fit. Re press your gas block on pin and be done.

How much do I sand off and how? I'm sure it has to be sanded evenly all around right? What kind of sand paper will work best?

Emery cloth 80 grit. Clamp in a vise and do a shoe shine motion. Roll the barrel to get all the way around. You can do one side then the other. You would need to use a whole roll of emery cloth amid a day of work to sand it out of round.
I'd say about five minutes preside should be enough to get you a mild press fit

Get some 1/2" emery cloth, use about 8 inches and half wrap the barrel and pull back and forth, keep moving around the barrel to evenly work around.

It doesn't take much work at all, do a little, check do a little more. It is easy to take material off, harder to put it back on.

Alright, I got the GB off and sanded it down. Now I'm able to push the GB by hand just past the first dimple. I'll report back when I press it on. I'm hoping I sanded enough

SUCCESS!!! GB went on without a hitch along with the fsb. However I did jack up the gb's rear pin hole. I tried to use a wrench to press it off. Squished some metal towards the hole. I think it should still work when I drill. Thanks everyone!!!
