    AK_47 keeps Jamming

I have a WASR-!0 that keeps jamming. As far as I can tell it's not the magazines , I switched mags 3 times and still the same result...Basically the bolt isn't sliding all the way forward when I load it. Any ideas what the problem could be? It's really starting to piss me off.

AKs were designed so that they won't function in the hands of Infidels.

Are the rounds seating all the way? Do they fit the chamber properly? Can you push the bolt forward by hand? Does the gun fire if you can manually advance the bolt? What other info can you provide? Is the chamber clean? Did you disassemble/reassemble the gun just prior to this starting?

What kind of ammo? Hollow points?

Sounds like a burr somewhere. Run your fingers over the rails and the bolt and the chamber to make sure there are not metal protrusions.

I don't think the rounds are seating correctly due to the fact that even though I manually push the bolt forward it still won't always fire (just clicks). I will open it up and check it out to look for burrs. Prior to shooting last I only field stripped the gun to clean it but nothing major. The ammo I was shooting was remington UMC nothing fancy but never had a problem before.

Never had a problem with the same ammo in the same gun?

Or never had a problem with different ammo in the same gun?

Sounds like there's something preventing the bolt from rotating into lockup. Is there crap around the locking lugs?

It could also be a piece of crap in the chamber, like the neck of a case that got ripped off. It could be just a sliver allowing some rounds to chamber and some not.

I took the top cover off last night and it seemed like maybe the bolt assembly wasn't reinstalled properly last time or something to that affect because now it cycles fine without ammo. I guess the real test will be next time I go to the range. However I did see that the bolt wasn't rotating properly into the lockup before I took it apart. Thanks for all the help, if I have anymore issues I will come back here thanks for all the suggestions guys it really helped me.

Because on re-assembly of the bolt extractor - spring - drift pins - firing pin, it is recomended to pay close attention to the bevels in the extractor and correct side of the firing pin.

Missalignment of extractor bevels could lock it up (no movement or claw action - bullet would fail to chamber). Firing pin not lined up with the cut out in the firng pin - 6mm to 10mm down from the tip of the firing pin.

If the extractor locked the bolt would slam into back of round and stop - the claw is suposed move over and grip round casing lipp.

Installing firing pin upside down - or side ways if it is a triangle chinese pin. Drift pin jamms fire-ing pin and peinnnnz it self to death. The drift pin goes through the cut out to allow movement of firing pin buttttt holds it in side rotory bolt tube.

Let me know if you need pictures of manaual and tips.

+1. Take the bolt out, make sure that you can push the extractor away from the centerline of the bolt, and that it returns. Shake the bolt forward and back and the firing pin should rattle freely. You should be able to tip the bolt down and see the firing pin sticking through the bolt face, tip it up and have it drop all the way back again.

I learn something new every time I logg in/on. Thank you!!!!!

Checked my extra Yugo bolt & carrier for giggles. The extractor moves toward center then springs back. The firing pins moves back and forth buttttt is a gummy. Needs cleaning out.

it is also possible to install the bolt wrong in the carrier. on re-assy it won't properly interface with the lwr. rails/ejector.
