RRA NM Two stage trigger issue - added pics

    Hi,
I did a search but could not find whether someone has had the same issue I'm having.

I bought a brand new Lower Receiver Parts Kit / NM Two Stage Trigger from LAN World. Followed instructions and here's my problem. The 2 stage trigger is behaving as a 'one stage' trigger. I have removed it and reinstalled a couple of times just to make sure. But no luck. Has anyone had this same problem before? Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

Can you take a picture of it with the sear engaged?

Is it catching on the front of the trigger assembly where the AR15 normally engages or is it catching on the rear hook T looking portion?

Or you can call RRA and have one of their techs walk you through it.

IIRC I have read in other forums(M4C, Arf) that this has happened before with a small number of RRA 2-stage triggers. Call RRA customer service, I'm sure they will replace it if you tell them the problem.

When I thumb the hammer, the hammer's T looking portion catches on the first hook (closest to hammer) of the trigger assembly.

I'll call RRA tech support. But here are a couple of pics.

Thank you for all your help.

Did it come with that hammer? that hammer looks 100% different than my RRA 2stage ?
Kind sounds like you need to time the disconnector a bit ?

That is the hammer that came with it. I did sent a note to Chris at LAN World about it. He suggested I call RRA.

            Mercula,

What do you mean by "time the disconnector a bit"?

            Thanks

does it contact the rear hook before releasing the hammer?

It should pull through the first stage, stop at the rear hook (disconnector) and require another pound or so of pressure before releasing the hammer. The rear hook is what gives you the 2nd stage of the trigger pull with the crisp let off.

No, it never engages the rear hook. It only engages the front hook. When I pull the trigger (short pull), it makes a click sound and drops the hammer. The second pic shows a gap between the 'T' and the last hook.

                Thanks

The gap is supposed to be there untill you pull the trigger.

The rear of the T is stopped by the front of the rear hook. The rear hook does not actually hook onto the T to release the hammer.

Once the travel of the trigger is stopped by the rear hook, a slight .5-1 lb of pressure will release the hammer.

If it just goes through without contacting or stopping on that front surfcae then the only fix is to send it back to RRA. There are DIY fixes but its not for the inexperienced especially on the RRA trigger where parts are staked together.

I know this may sound simplistic, but how are you pulling the trigger? Slow and steady or just pulling. Is this the first NM 2 stage trigger youve tried?

                    Excellent pictures, BTW.

At 1st I thought it wasn't, but that is a RRA hammer. I just took a look at mine & they're identical. Your photos show the hammer in its correct cocked position. You may want to ensure your trigger is all the way forward and that the trigger return spring is sufficiently strong to cause the trigger to remain in the forward position.

Stage one of the trigger pull should stop (and reach single stage 2 setting) when the back end of the hammer butts up against the leading edge of the disconnector. I suppose it's possible that if the hammer pin hole and disconnector pin hole on the receiver are too far apart you'll move through stage one and two without the trigger setting, but I've never seen that happen.

From your post it sounds (maybe?) as though you're confusing the sear engagement with the disconnector engagement. If you pull the trigger to the rear and keep it there, then cock the hammer all the way back the rear of the hammer should engage the disconnector. Release the trigger and the hammer should drop (short distance) from disconnector engagement to sear engagement. Pulling the the trigger should then take you from stage one to stage two. I think a few function checks are helpful.

If the hammer is falling before the disconnector bumps against the hammer, then the front surface of the disconnector needs to be raised to let the disconnector pivot more towards the hammer.
That way the hammer will bump the disconnector before the trigger releases the hammer.

It's not uncommon for RRA 2 stage triggers to turn into single stage triggers.
Send it back and ask for a replacement.
