You can tell any barrel maker that you want a live weasel mounted on the end of your barrel but you aren't going to get it.

Do you notice that you're the only person in this thread who thinks that Krieger did anything wrong?

There is really no need for the barrel to be short chambered, or even reamed by krieger at all.
The gunsmith should have handled all of that if you have specific chambering requirements.
You clearly don't know enough about how barrel fitting is done to be telling Krieger and your gunsmith how to do their jobs.

The correct way to put a gun to gather is to order a barrel blank, then fit it to the action, THEN chamber it to headspace correctly.
It's not so bad to order a pre-threaded barrel, but it's really not possible to fully chamber a barrel without the action/bolt on-hand.

Basically, by micro-managing the project, you have people running in circles to fix the problems you created.

      ^^^ And this....

          My 2 cents....

agreed with the others that is normal on custom barrels just some FYI for you:

There is many different types of crowning on the exterior and face of the muzzle (flat, concave, tapered, recessed etc) with at least 3 types of interior angles (straight 90 degrees, 45 degrees and 11 degrees) so you can see why a custom barrel maker would not do crowning just for the shear number of different crowning styles that can be done.

The key thing is if YOU have seen that your post was made in haste then I would recommend you edit the title of this thread to acknowledge your made a hasty comment.

This it is only fair to Krieger to do so.

Assuming this pans out as planned, absolutely. With the 20x Lyman super targetsport I found locally this should be a totally kick arse M1941A1 clone. the smith has built a number of these, only with stock barrels that often hold a 1-1.25MOA. With this new barrel with 190g reloads, he's thinking it'll be a sub-MOA for sure and shoot very well out past 1k yards. I should be ready and up in Sac for the October comp.

thanks gents. Have a safe enjoyable Holiday weekend.

I knew it. A cheater rifle!

I built one for a guy with a 10 twist Douglas air gauged in 95 Palma caliber. Shot so good they "protested" his gun.
Bedding/barrel damping is critical on a 1903. Very much like an M1 or M14.

By the way, an honest minute and a quarter gun is more than adequate to clean a prone silhouette match. A lot has to do with the nut behind the butt.

                Have fun with it.

Treat orders like this just like a big commercial construction project....check your submittals against the specs!
