    Hello

I was wondering if any body knows of a Good Gunsmith near the Inland Empire, San Bernardino County or Riverside County that you know.

ROCCOBRO is in San Bernardino and seems to know a bit about everything, if he can't help he can probably tell you who can

          Why??
Yes it's your weapon but I'd advise against it. It will kill it's value. Now you may never wish to sell it. but there may come a day when that is not the case.

I sure as hell don't want a WWII or Korean issue carbine that has been butchered.

Is there an option you may want to consider???

That's like putting an afterburner on a turtle.

If your drilling and tapping for an optic mount. I would suggest you try out an Ultimak forward scout mount. No gunsmithing required.
We'll just give them the 'ol number 6.

yes I did thought about the Ultimak forward scout mount , but it would not work with the scope I'm planning to mount it on.
And yes thought about rune the value of my firearm.

Well if you could state which type/make/model scope you planning to use might be able to come up with a good no drill option.

Scopes do not make firearms or shooter shot any more accurate .... it just brings the target closer so you can try to choose your shot placement. M1 Carbines that are Mil Issued with no changes won't have the power or the accuracy to really be effective at ranges where Scout Scopes would not be enough zoom.

                  Just some FYI:

The average MOA of a standard issue M1 at 100 yards is 4, even with the best match ammo getting better than 3 MOA is hard without customizing.

The "combat" effective range is around 200 yards (this is always a misleading fiqure as it is calculated using the minimum parameter of putting a hole in a person, lots of soldiers had holes in them and still were effective in combat.)
