    Help...barrel pin question..............

I had to put an oversized barrel pin (.302) in to reset the headspacing. the right side of the trunnion is egged. Is this a failure/trashed? will it move? can something be done? or should I just leave it????? I've read i could do a larger barrel pin .315. That I don't want to do. getting the pin in was obivisously a very very tight fit btw. please help......thanks

I would ream the hole to 0.3115 and press a 5/16" pin into it.
Your hole is egged on the BAD side.
If it were egged towards the bolt, it would not matter nearly as much...

            Agree.
The force of the round going off is going to move the barrel forward to the end of the reamed hole (not backward toward the chamber).
Randall's assessment of the gap being on the 'bad side' is 100% correct.
Head space is something you don't 'get close enough', and call it good.
Set it to the gnats backside as the safe function of your firearm depends on it.
Also agree with over sizing barrel pin hole, and barrel pin until it's perfect.
Hole in barrel/ trunnion should look like one piece of metal when done correctly>>>

Where did you ever find those things?
Yes, ream and install an 8mm pin.
