    Dissapointed with troubled build.

I have one of my bulgy builds that is just a problem child. I should have known it from the beginning but still.

Right now I am working on fixing the scope rail so that it aligns using shims an a bore sighter, but there is another issue that needs solving that I am stumped on.

There is some kind of binding occurring on the BCG just before it engages the trigger group so it isn't binding there. I checked for side clearance on the rails on the carrier and the bolt, clearance on the extractor spur. It is all there... it just hangs up. I can make it happen and can feel the binding.

This build has always had "something" up with it. It is on it's second receiver flat. The rear trunion forks were bent and I had to fix those. it shoots and groups (scope excepting) well for what it is worth but it isn't reliable. The BCG short strokes and jams often. I presume because of the binding occurring. I am open to suggestions.

I had the same issue on the PAL I just finished. Rails were way to narrow. HAd to open them up. smooth everything out and now it's smooth. well except for the parkerizing causing issues with a gritty feeling on the action but that will go away in time.

take a sharpie and mark up the rails then cycle the action and see where its rubbing

Check the ejector for being bent up or down. Even if the length is correct the bolt could be binding on the bottom of the ejector and you may not notice.

Turns out it was the ejector. I tend to leave them a little long for more positive ejection but in this case there was "just enough" interference to actually cause it to jam up. A few minutes with a hand diamond file and a but of hammer and punch gentle work and I have the Up angle right and the length.. "just right". Now the only place we have the resistance in the FCG/Hammer which is just one of those semi-auto AK features. BTW I like a little up-angle on my ejector because it fits more into the slot in the bolt fully. But it does have to be "just right".

Now to fix the scope rail and that will take a lot more "doing". as .03 means feet off at distance.
