Stuck building my AR, help?

Firstly, I'm sorry if this is the wrong forum for this. I wasn't sure if it should be in the Centerfire Rifles section, or another.

So I've had the parts for my AR for a while, and been so busy with work and school, after I got stuck some weeks ago, I stopped until now that school is over. So now my problem is as follows.. I put my lower completely together, following YT videos and guides online, and once I got to the safety selector, I pulled back the hammer, then put it in, put the small detent in the lower, and then the spring into my grip, then screwed it on. Everything I see tells me to test the functions, and I do, but everytime I try to test fire on "safe" it still snaps the hammer. It could be something so simple maybe I'm forgetting or not doing, but I can't figure it out. This is my first build, so I'm not sure if I'm supposed to attach my upper, and there's something on it that goes down and interacts with the safety & hammer, but I doubt. Because in all the clips I watch, people test it right after installing the safety, and it works on "semi", and doesn't on "safe" which is how it should be.

Any ideas?

Does the selector detent properly snap into each position?
Any chance you installed the selector backwards?
What selector are you using?
What fire control parts set are you using?

Is it a 80% lower?

I've heard of this happening if the safety selector holes through the lower weren't quite straight.

It seems to feel like it. Feels a little bit loose when I click it to the right over to safe, but since I don't really know what it's supposed to feel like, it's hard for me to say.
And I don't believe I did, left side of the lower, when you're actually holding the rifle, right?
And I'm not sure on which fire control parts, tbh. I'll try and take a pic of the selector to show you once I get a chance, I have to run off to work.

And yes, it is an 80% lower. Though it seemed to slide into place without too much struggle. Last thing I wanna do is bring it to a gunsmith, if it's something I can fix myself.

Did you maybe switch one of the takedown detent springs with the safety selector detent spring?

Hmm... Sound very familiar with something that happened to me... And mine was a 80% lower. I had same issue, would fire in "safe."

Listen to ar15barrels, he helped me out and hit it on the head. FCG holes may be off slightly from the safety hole or vice versa. I only had this issue with a aftermarket match trigger tho (Timney).

What he suggested was add some material to center drum of the safety selector and grind it down until it barely touches the rear pad of the trigger or add material to the rear trigger pad. I chose the safety selector drum since the trigger group was expensive.

Do you know what brand the parts kit is? Standard mil-spec? Or match stuff like Timney or Geiselle (sp?)

Very interesting, thanks for posting your link too. And my selector looks a little different on the other end of it. And I feel dumb truly for not knowing what kind of parts kits I have. When I bought it, it was more of a spur of the moment, been wanting a gun at a gun show thing, so I bought some parts. I'll upload a pic in about an hour when I get home and show you the selector and stuff. It's literally been driving me crazy.

And evil, I'm not really sure. When I got to the point of needing the spring for the detent for the safety, I had 2 left. So I chose the stiffer of the 2, and they were both practically the same size.

No problem. About the selector lever being different, I forgot to mention that it was a Battle Arms Development Ambi Safety Selector (BAD-*****). That's why it looks different.

My Fire control holes were off too and the dis connector doesn't work well ,have to load one round at a time in mag

A disconnector can be re-timed to work correctly in the out-of-spec lower.
Looks like the OP might also need his fire control group modified to work in his out-of-spec lower.

Before the huge rush of 80% lowers, we did not have all these problems of out-of-spec lowers...
