    stupid 80% designed lower

a friend just finish his 80% lower and try to install all lower parts, but he forgot about bolt catch spring. so he call me and ask about how to removed the roll pin on bolt catch.
the problem is that the bolt catch holder has only one hole and the other end is closed and no way to punch the roll pin out.
question how to removed this roll pin

Why is the hole for the roll pin blind?
It should be all the way through both ears for the bolt hold open.

      Is this an 80% receiver?

I just re read the post.

You will need to complete the hole for the roll pin

        Based upon your tools
        Mill from the closed end?
Use a cut off wheel to cut off the end(ugly)
Try drilling into the Roll pin, tapping, inserting a screw and pulling out.

I hope its not one of the new lowers that use a allen bolt with a pin. You might want to check. It might be designed like that. You can really tell either. What brand is it?

I suspect it is threaded for a little tiny screw with an allen head. I mistakenly put a roll pin into mine while test fitting, the was horrified to realize it was a threaded hole.

I ended up using a dremel to cut my bolt catch, then push the roll pin in and cut it until none was left. Then I just used a long aircraft drill bit to put a hole in the other side. Finally just used a roll pin after buying a new bolt catch...

I can fix that for you if you're willing to drive to San Jose. I've seen that lower, and you're not the 1st person to have this problem. Using a roll pin for the bolt catch is a stupid design.
