    Front sight adjustment

Yep...it's a s&w pistol with dovetail sights. The front sight will not budge and I am hitting it pretty good with a plastic drift. Probably came from the factory in this spot, back in the mid 90's. So how should I proceed? Thanks

Plastic isn't going to budge it. you are going to need a solid brass drift and and a heavy hammer. it also needs to be firmly resting against something that wont mar it.
In any type of fight, & especially gun fights, there are no winners ..... just varying degrees of losers. The only fight you win is the one you never get into.

Also have a solid backing surface, like a scott towel on the garage floor. Doubt they peened/staked it but it can take a bit to get them to budge.

OK... so I tried the garage floor and a steel punch. No movement. To hit it much harder seems abusive, there must be a better way?

            I have a 25ton press.
It has not failed to move any pistol sight that would not move when clamped in the milling machine vise and hit with a proper hammer and brass drift punch.
