    How to build a 1919

How is this done exactly. I see parts kits and the gun looks complete except for the side plate or whatever. How is it built exactly? I read some other threads already talking about need internal machine work. What exactly is that about?
I was looking at this kit,

check out www.1919a4.com or www.shoot1919a4.com for more info.

Basically you get a semi-auto right side plate, either 80% (may or may not be available due to BATF rulings) or an FFL'ed 100% side plate. Finish the 80% plate by drilling the proper holes. Take finished right side receiver and rivet entire receiver together.

For the internals, they won't fit insde a complete semi-auto receiver so they ahve to be machined to semi-auto dimensions.

edit: and that gunbroker auction is expensive. I think going price in the $400 range for a kit.

Yup, just found this post, $385. http://www.1919a4.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16138

Do you want an AOW or C&R SBS/SBR in CA?

Well is there a link you could give me for the machining process? I read the first link already and it says send it out for machine work but not the actual process (well it did say removing .70" off the bolt?) but is that it or is there more?

Yeah I read it, doesn't go into it at all. That link is for the parts, the other link here is the closest to machining, http://www.1919a4.com/tutorials/tutorial11.php
That doesn't go into it enough. It says send the parts to the a machinist that's versed in the machining. I'd like to machine my own stuff since I have access to equipment to do so but I need the exact process.

The total machining is only $90 if you send it out. If one does it themselves, carbide cutters are required due to the hardness and they can run most of that $90. On the pics shown above, the cutting/weld up on the lock frame trigger is not used any more. The latest KMP triggers now match the WLA and AA triggers, which are full size. So only the side cutting on the lock frame is required.

If you order a KMP trigger, instructions will come with it for the proper machining. Also most RHSP on the market today are still only machined to the level of the previous 80% plates (like KMP or Halo) but the sellers now will only ship them to FFLs. When you get them, you still have to drill and fit them to your receiver box, which is what you want anyways.

Is there anyone local that can do the machining or should I just send it out to one of the guys on 1919a4.com?
                oh this...

Send it to Brian and you will have it back in a week. With the price of fuel these days, there is really no need to drive around to locate a machine shop locally. Just stick it all in a USPS flat rate box for $10 and send it out. The machining price of $90 covers return shipping to you and there is no way you will find a machine shop in Bay area that will do it at that price. Brian has special jigs all set and the correct tooling on hand along with his machines already programmed to make it a simple process. Since he has been able to spread the setup costs over 100s of sets that he has done he can offer it for the price he does.

                  Here is his contact info.

Yeah I think I'll get it out to him come Monday, for $200 he'll include the internal machining, KMS Trigger, Shear, Spring, and Refinishing... with a the price of gas and such a fast turn around you can't beat that...

I did my own machining, trust me, ship it out if you have any doubts. This stuff is freakin brutal on carbide even. Though I am 9 years removed from my last job in the field.
