How to remove AR hand guard?

I want to swap out the hand guard and remove the front sights from this pistol. I have a standard AR rifle upper block (pro mag I think) but it won't fit this pistol due to the location of the brass deflector. How can I remove it and what else needs to come off to remove it besides the front sight?

check the back of the handguard for lock screws. That handguard just threads onto the barrel nut so it should be cake to remove once the FSB is gone.

p.s. the front sight block will probably be the hardest thing to remove... Those pins dont knock out easily (they are tapered so make sure you knock them out accordingly)

Thanks. I'm think it may be cost effective to take it to someone rather than buying more tools.

If you don't have the tools or experience, it is well worth it to have a gunsmith take care of it for you

That gas deflector is held in place by the ejection port door assembly. Remove the small c-clip from the rod, slide the rod to the rear until the whole thing comes off. The gas deflector has a spring behind it so that it can be held against the upper.

You will need to press out the front sight pins and front sight base to get the handguard off. Once the FSB is removed, that handguard is loosened and slid off towards the front of the barrel.

it looks like you can use a wrench to take the flash hider off
be careful not to bend the barrel and then you need punches you can get those from a hardware store like home depot for 10-12 dollars
you have to punch out the detents in your iron sights.

it looks like your hand guard might twist off or it might have screws at the bottom were you have to use an allen wrench
