    XD Ejector Bur

    Hi folks,
My XD9 has about 2000 rounds through it and I just noticed this chip or bur on my ejector when cleaning it. Just wondering if this is a serious issue, how it may have happened, whether I should replace it etc..

Just curious for my general education. I fully expect at about 2000 rounds that things may be starting to wear out. Anything else I should expect will be wearing out on soon?

    Thanks!

That doesnt look normal at all. Possibly premature weat but brass+steel= steel wins. Have you been using steel cased ammo very often?

It's mostly normal for XD's. The rear left of the magazine feed lips hit it. This isn't too much of an issue with OEM mags but I know certain aftermarket mags have more contact with the ejector in that area. The solution apparently is to gently file away some material on the part of the mag lips that make contact.

          No worries...

I took this photo just now of my filthy *** XD9 which has 1950 rounds through it:

You can see the same kinda thing. How hard you slam your mags in and the use of certain aftermarket magazines is mostly what causes it, I think.

            Thanks, guys.

Never shot a single steel-case round through this. Been entirely new factory brass.

Never used anything but the factory XD mags.

So, is this part failure-prone? Do I need to replace it?

I have an XD45 with zero marks on the ejector such as you pictured here.
I shoot steel cased as well as brass.
With mag inserted it should not come into contact with ejector. There is a visible space.
Maybe ejector is angled too low in the front or angled off to the left.
I'd keep an eye on it and if it gets worse I'd send it to SA for a new ejector.

OP… I’d say its 100% normal… both of my XD show those marks on the extractor; both have a high round count.

I only shoot brass cases ammo and use factory mags.

I probably have about 3-4k though one of them now, aside from the roll pin in the slide; I haven’t had to change a single part on the gun.
