    1894c action smoothing request

Looking for anyone around Orange County who knows how to smooth out the action of an 1894c lever action. It is so stiff (never fired) and its killing my hand cycling the action. Is there anybody that knows how to remedy this dilemma?

The Cowboys and Indian store here: http://www.cowboysandindianstore.com/
is the authority on slicking up Marlin (and all cowboy action) rifles. in very high demand and the wait for action work is very long but considered the best in the biz.

    Walker 47 here: http://www.walker47.com/
is great and has a very attentive gunsmith who will do a very good job in a timely manner.

    my two cents.

    Happy shooting

I just worked it over and over...Like dry firing my S&W 442/642.

I applied the anti sieze copper lube from my glock and just worked the lever...after time it gets smoother.

Then I cleaned and lubed with oil...

I did this with my 1894 .44mag and my Marlin 1894C in .357 action and lever are much nicer.

I did this over 3 days in the evenings watching TV.

Good luck they are great rifles.

Go to the Marlin owners forum. The forum is fantastic with plenty of knowledgable folk that will help you. There is a detailed breakdown and smooth out you will be pleased with.
Instead of lube, first you use some sort of abrasive polishing compound followed by lube. You want to smooth out the rough surfaces, lube prevents this, polishing compound accelerates it.

You might try a spring kit before you send it off. Pretty easy to install. I shoot one in Cowboy Action

I know a place in Glendale (American Gun Works). They charge $150. Just sharing facts as I inquired about it yesterday.

Go here http://marauder.homestead.com/files/tuning_m_1894.htm and do it yourself. I also put a Wild West Guns ejector and trigger kit in it, like night and day difference.
