    Glock 22 recoil spring assembly

Hey guys I finally picked up my used gen3 glock22 the other day! I did a field strip as soon as I got it home and found this. (See pic) the recoil spring is actually cutting the guide rod! I know its a simple fix with an $8 replacement part. But has anyone else ran into this before? Also if I plan on primarily shooting 180gr rounds for IDPA, and the occasional 165gr, should I stay with the factory recoil spring weight? I've lookee into Lone Wolf Dist kits but I'm confused about which one to get. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Replace it, something is not right. The spring should be straight, that looks like it got bent somehow.

Replace it with a factory glock part or aftermarket? I don't mind forking out the little extra $ as long as it won't happen again.

Time for a stainless or tungsten guide rod!

A factory replacement is all you need.

I know a factory replacement will work fine, but what will work better for 180hr and 165gr? Also on the stainless guide rod assemblies, which spring weight should I choose?

With the SS guide rod for a G22, I would go with an ISMI 20 pounder for 180 loads (20-22 would be best). You don't want the slide to be too fast on it if you go any lower.

Would the 20# spring still work fine for 165gr loads?

Yes, I was going to suggest the 22# for the 180, but since you're shooting 165 too, I think the 20# would be best.
