AR15 Bullet Button Problem...

Hoping someone here may offer a suggestion as to how I should proceed.

The predicament came about in this fashion: I purchased a new rifle from Taran Tactical Innovations, but I didn't care for the Prince 50 (I think) bullet button that came with it. So I swapped it out for the Raddlock that I had on my other AR (an LWRC). The Raddlock functions flawlessly on the TTI rifle, but when I went to install the Prince 50 in my LWRC lower and adjusted the set screw to set it for true "bullet button" functionality, the set screw was TOO SHORT and fell off the back side of the button. WTF, right?

Well now I can't press the button in at all in order to remove the mag release and get the set screw out, and the button doesn't function like a bullet-button so I can't even put a magazine in the rifle if I want to be able to remove it later.

My thought was to remove the bolt catch button to see if the set screw will fall out (I'm not even sure if the mag button well in the lower is open above or not), but I don't have the right punch here to avoid scratching the crap out of the receiver.

Can't you just use a bullet-button "wrench" to unscrew the internal "sleeve?"
You shouldn't have to "push the button" to remove the mag release.

Can you post a picture of your mag release button?

Sounds like the OP installed the sleeve nut too tight possibly backwards.

As I said, not especially sure this is even a Prince 50.

What I need to do now is figure out how to get it outta my lower so I can replace it with something I'm more familiar with...like a Raddlock.

With better lighting I can see the tool head of the set screw. It is loose in the receiver, but for some reason I can't get it to do anything but roll around. Been shaking the crap out of the receiver to see if I can get the screw to stand on end so I can push the button, but it's either got no room to do so, or it's being stubborn.

Ok ill bite, maybe drill and tap a different size for a bolt? Or if you can wait I have one of those bb laying around here and I can ship it tomorrow after work not sure where you are located but I'm in Sonoma county.

Hey, all.

Disaster averted.

Being that I could see the tool head of the set screw if I smacked the receiver around enough, I surmised that if I could get an alan key into that tool head that I might be able to put some pressure on the mag release button so that I could seat the set screw into it's hole on the back of the button. It took a surgeon's hands and LOTS of cussing, but I got it threaded back into it's hole and backed it all the way out.

What a pain in the ***.

Prince 50 dude....

Your gonna have to back out that screw every time you want to insert or remove a mag.

I used them on my first builds back in 05-06.

It's okay if you don't mind opening up the receiver to load your mag. If so, get an extended rear take down pin.
