AR lower grip screw thread depth?

I just converted my 80% to 100. It's a QD AR-10. Before anodizing or Cerakoting, I like to test fit all the parts and catch any potential problems. Everything is fine, with one exception.

When hand test fitting the pistol grip screw, it goes in smoothly but not all the way. If you look inside the lower, you can see that the hole is not threaded all the way through. For amusement I tried three other spare screws of the same length, with the same result.

For curiosity sake, should it be threaded all the way? I realize I can tap the rest of the hole or just add a washer to the pistol grip screw, but just wondering.

The other tension screw near the pistol grip screw is the same. Sorry, can't recall the proper name for that one. Same question...

Run a tap through it. Sometimes the threads get junk in it from machining it.

The tension screw is to eliminate slop from upper to lower fit up. Run a tap through that one too.

Ran to OSH the other day and picked up a tap and handle. I carefully finished both holes. Now just to get it anodized, and scrounge for parts...

                Barrel and extension, so far.
