    308 bullet button help

I have a quentin defense completed lower 308 from an 80% er and am having problems with the bullet button working correctly. There's not enough travel on the BB when adjusting and i can't get my mags to stay in. Any ideas? its a standard ar type BB just like numerous others i have used. i am using steel gi type mags that worked perfect on my previous TM 308 lower
    thanks

Are you using a 308 sized mag catch or an AR-15 sized mag catch?
308 mag catches are longer to accommodate the extra width of the 308 AR family receivers.

Bullet buttons don't care about the mag catch....they will fit on both.

What lower? DPMS style or Ar10 style. They use different mags I believe.

I had a POF lower that is a DPMS style and I had no problems with 10/20 pmags and a bullet button.

u need an ar10 mag catch, it will not work with an ar15 mag catch, the ar10 catch has a slightly different bend and engages the magazine much better. Without the bend the ar15 catch will allow the magazine to drop out sometimes

          You are correct.
The Lower receivers DO care about mag catch length though.
If you use one that is too short, you will not be able to release the mags as bullet buttons have less usable travel than regular mag release buttons.
You can get away with the wrong mag catch in a 308 with a regular mag release button by simply unscrewing the cstch from the button 3-4 turns.
There might not be an extra 3-4 turns available on a bullet button threaded sleeve to still retain the mag catch reliably if you just loosened it up to make the mag drop free when the catch is fully depressed.
