I'm starting on an AK-47 Bulgarian milled receiver parts kit pretty soon. I am going to take my time with this build and try to design the entire receiver CAD/CAM myself. I do have access to sophisticated equipment for this. I'm trying to take on an experimental project to teach myself automated manufacturing skills and this is it.
I may start with reverse engineering a few of the smaller AK parts like the trigger group, gas piston, muzzle brake, or even bolt carrier. The nice thing about these is I can easily swap my custom parts with the parts on my fully-functional AK to test them out. If I become effective enough at building these parts, I may try to design and manufacture every part myself except the barrel. That's not my focus at the moment though -- just skill building and getting a fully functional AK from the parts kit.
So where can I find machinist milspec blueprints for AKs or, specifically, a Bulgarian milled receiver AK? I especially want to know the milspec tolerances of the designs.
