Found a Loaner locally, thanks for all the replys.

in the San Diego area to chase the threads on an AR15 lower, where the buffer tube screws in. Or borrow a 1 3/16-16 tap or buy a reasonably priced tap.

Midway and brownells have them on a 1 month back order. Even a link to where I can buy one would help.

I got mine from drillsandcutters.com via their ebay listing. I haven't a clue whether their regular web site has lower prices.

Given the situation, and the difficulty of using them (and ending up with a decent thread), I'd be looking for a tap. I actually have an old internal hand thread file (somewhere in the old tool stash), but I've not seen another in person in more than 35 years in the trade.

I used an internal thread file once and never will again if I have the choice...
