Just a little teaser of a project I am finally finishing. Just need to take care of some fitting and then matte clear the composite! Can't say its any lighter than a standard lower, but then again it was built more out of the "because I can mentality".

The fcg area, buffer tower, andd front pivot pin area are aluminum, the sides are machined from a slab of carbon fiber. The whole deal is adhesive bonded together.Comment

I foresee a Problem with your Safety Selector Switch being an issue. Would appear that it will be to Short with the added thickness off the Carbon Fiber? (unless you already took this into account when determining the overall with?)
Cool Project though.... Please keep posting Pics of the Progress.

You have a good eye, the overall thickness is only 0.05" thicker than that of a standard forged lower. the metallic insert had extremely thin walls in the FCG pocket. I have yet to decide whether to modify a standard safety selector or manufacture my own.Comment
