    AR finish question

I've put together my first AR lower and have a question on it's finish. The lower had an almost chalky black finish when I bought it. It's a PSA lower. Everything went together well and I'm happy with the quality. I was wondering if I should rub it down with a light coat of gun oil. Is that an "old school" way of doing it or is there something else I should do?

    Thanks,

    John

Chalky black? Maybe t was just a matte black/flat black finish??? If thats the case oil is just a temporary shine. Duracoat it, any color other than black. Make it less evil. More accrptable for society.

    Sorry i couldnt help.

Yes, matte black I guess. Just seemed really flat black. Where my gun oil got onto the surface it looks much nicer but I wasn't sure about "oiling" the body. My dad used to oil all his guns back in the day after cleaning them but I wasn't sure if that's really an accepted thing to do these days.

Mine come out of anodizing chalky black. I oil them down and they stay nice even when they dry.

        Oil it up!

That's what I'm going to do then, thanks! All my other non-stainless guns have that finish so I'm good with that.
