need help making this 20 MM round safe

i was given this and 4 others and am not sure exactly what round it is and how to go about making it safe. Any suggestions where to go with this would greatly be appreciated. It does have markings on it that read:* HVM - 20- 6 53 20MM T283E1

        Marine EOD..
        They are the inerting experts...

If you try to undertake the inerting.
        Alittle to much heat....BOOM

I would not recomend doing it.
It is simply not worth it.It is a common round.
Sell it or take it to Knob Creek and shoot it.

Its a 20mm cartridge with dummy fuze.

and check your state laws to insure your not going to get your dog shot.

Are you trying to keep it for display or just disposing? If disposal a copper tubing cutter of appropriate size around the body and dump powder.

Does it have a primer or primer pocket?

            Could it be,

"a collectible relic and is a "DUMMY or INERT" 20mm round which was never meant to fire nor was it machined to do so. Note the absence of a primer or a machined primer hole on the bottom of the brass cartridge case. Possibly put out by the manufactureer as a sales promotional or made for teaching purposes.

Possibly Vietnam Era or back to the Korean War Era."

              I googled the numbers:
You are bidding on a great pair of vintage, inert 20mm cannon rds. The first projectile is marked HVM-20-6 53 20MM T283E1*. The base of the cartridge is solid

Sounds like it is enert as mentioned already. Says mid 50's era.

The base of the cartridge is solid with no primer provision

                If it is...ENJOY
