so I have a colt frontier scout 62 and am unable to find a serial number....
any help would be greatly appreciated....

Have you checked below the grips? After removing them. A couple of my old old revolvers only have it there. Also, on the wheel.

Forward of the trigger bow you'll find a screw; one of several that holds the backstrap assembly to the frame. Just ahead of that screw on the revolver's frame, you should find the serial number stamped.
