    Need Gunsmith for sighting:

Looking for a local gunsmith in the Bay Area (I am located in the east bay), to sight a couple AR-15's I have, as well as 9mm carbine. Can anyone recommend someone? Thanks in advance.

Don't waste your $$$ having a smith sight in any firearm. Spend the $$ on ammo and go to the range and sight them in yourself. Besides a smith will only do a "rough" sighting, and most likely not actually shoot the firearm when sighting it in.

    It's not rocket science.....

      +1

Having a gunsmith sight in your rifle is a gimmick. It will only put you on paper. Ammo and distance will get you in the bullseye.
Been gone too long. It's been 15 to 20 years since i had to shelf my guns. Those early years sucked.

I have to agree. Even with iron sights it's a one in a million chance that someone else can shoot your zero.

Bore sight the rifle then shoot it and make adjustments in one axis at a time.

OK sounds good. Just have never had to sight anything in before. But I think between the info here and YouTube, I'll be all good. Thanks.

Do yourself a favor, and start short(25 yards or so) and use some Shoot-n-See stick on targets, you'll waste a lot less ammo this way.
Also, think about how you will be shooting the gun, shooting off hand POI may be different than on a bench depending on how you hold it.

How does sighting a gun in at 25 yards save ammo? It only takes ONE round to sight in a gun at any distance. Just google "one shot zero" if you don't know how to do it. Also, remember that you'll probably need to change your zero for different types of ammo. So, zero it with what you're planning on shooting at the distance you're planning on shooting at.
