need help bending an ak flat

I'm here to ask if anyone is out here in Orange County (preferably Garden Grove - close to the 22 freeway on Trask an Magnolia) to help bend two ak flats. I need to bend the flats and ship them out to be properly heat treated. If anyone out here close to me could help, please PM me.

Where are you sending them to be heat treated?

        Brian,
Why not go to one of the Ak build parties?

Because typically they won't let you just bend up a bunch of flats.

I'd sure as hell drill and ream all holes to size before heat treat though. You don't want to drill and ream a hardened receiver, it's just abuse of your tooling. That means your rails should be in too which will screw you up for installing your trigger guard later on. You could do it with out the rails and just drill for the center support through the rails only. but then you have to spot treat the ejector.

I'm not close to you (rancho cucamonga) but I do have a AK builder bending jig 1mm flat only and a press you can use if you want to drive up here.

+1 i was at a build party and a guy there had a fully heat treated pre bent flat. he spent so much time drilling and breaking drill bits he couldn't finish his build he spent 3/4 of the day with a drill in his hand cursing and sweating. build it then heat treat it once.....

I just spot heat treated the trigger pin holes, the tip of the ejector and tempered the ejector using the brake fluid burning method. I have about 1500 rounds through her and I have zero issues. I use a cheap propane torch for it. I would fear your receiver may warp from a full heat treating unless you have a jig to keep it straight.

                        That is another issue.

Spot treating has worked for hundreds of rifles and pistols. If you can get it fully heat treated with out warping great. I sure would not try it with out a jig.
