    Stripping Vltor MUR upper

I am planning to Cerakote my complete upper that has a Vltor MUR receiver. The MUR is different than the more common upper receiver that I know how to strip off the parts. Is stripping the MUR straight forward? Anything I need to look out for? Thanks.

you need to sand blast all the part with aluminum oxide. sand blast will strip off everything.

Doubt that sandblasting will strip off the parts. To remove the EPC, you have to drive out a roll pin that is holding the "bump" and forward assist area on the upper. Then, that area slides down and off the upper. Then you can remove the EPC as an assembly. I did this a couple of years ago.

Yes, i need the parts removed before i could sand blast and cerakote them. Isn't the shell deflector removal as well? If it is, is it held with screws?

Drive out the roll pin that is horizontal. Then, slide off the shell deflector and forward assist assembly. You might want to remove the long roll pin that is holding in the forward assist plunger first though. Just study the assembly, and it will become clear (you can see the other end of the roll pin that holds the assembly to the receiver from inside the receiver).
