I followed the advice of someone to twist my mag release screw with my sear spring bend (bend on top not bottom).
What does that bend do?
I'll buy a new one for $8 but meanwhile I'm wondering if I can fire my 1911.

, some will say it is for that, some will say it is to help keep the spring aligned on the sear, the other side of the spring, the grip safety spring leg works too. I have used it, many others have too. If you have a tuned trigger job you should avoid that. Put it in the gun and leave the grip safety off and operate the trigger with the defunct sear spring and watch what it does without the tab, it may work just fine, but who knows for how long.
