Just got my 80% lower delivered finally! Ready to get this ball rolling; I decided to do an AR pistol because I REALLY want an SBR and this is the closest I'll get in CA. I have some decisions/questions though that maybe calguns can help me with.
1) should I annodize before I cerakote?
I'm still trying to decide on what coler I want to make it, but I'm THINKING I want to paint my rifle in a camo type pattern with gray and black. Should I annodize the lower THEN cerakote it? Or just cerakote it?
2) for engravings and annodizing/cerakote jobs, should I do those before I mill out the 80% that way I do not have to be present or use an FFL? (This is how I read the law, please correct me if I'm wrong in assuming an 80% can be shipped around at will for work to be done)
3) i plan on putting an optic on this pistol, should I use flip down front and rear sights or just get a normal upper and cowitness with my optic? Does it matter or should I just go for whatever good deals are available?
Hopefully I will keep this thread updated step by step. This is my first 80% build, but I've put rifles together before. I've never kept a running log of them though, and I thought it'd be cool.
