    Failing AK function test.

I am going through the function test with my AK and it fails the part where I cycle back while holding the trigger down. It doesn't reset but instead fires when the trigger is "released". I have a G2 trigger group.

Check to make sure your disconnecter spring is installed. Also, this seems dumb, but make sure your hammer is installed the correct way. If you put it in backwards, you will have all sorts of fun.

      +1

If that fails to reveal a problem, look at the Nodak Spud trouble shooting page

EDIT - if the fixes above don't work - try this. . .

Good thing you function-checked!!! This is very unsafe!!!

I had this same problem. The fix is easy.

        Two things hold the hammer:

When the trigger is held back - the disconnector holds the hammer.

This is working on your gun.

When you slowly release the trigger - then the hook(s) on the trigger "take over" and are supposed to hold the hammer.

This isn't working because the distance between the disconnector and the trigger hooks is too "far" - thus allowing the hammer to "fall" between the gap.

You need to narrow this gap.

The disconnector angle needs to be changed to narrow this gap.

You need to make the disconnector closer to the trigger hooks.

Take a look at the pic below - you see that if you file off some metal from where the BOTTOM of the disconnector touches the trigger - it will increase its angle, thus narrowing the distance.

PLEASE DON'T DO THIS UNLESS YOU COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU ARE DOING. I AM NOT A GUNSMITH. IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND - TAKE IT TO A GUNSMITH!

        This should work.

probably because evan was always too busy eating, and never bothered to learn how to fix a commie gun.

                  try this

                      Hey Sal,
I really appreciate the offer. I actually just sent it back to the manufacturer who will be fixing it. Thanks everyone for the info.

So I had it fixed by the manufacturer. It was an issue with the type of receiver used in combination with the trigger group not being very compatible.

Now when I do the function test and release the trigger at a quick speed it resets...then I pull the trigger and the hammer collapses like normal.

BUT if I were to do a slow trigger release it does not reset and instead collapses like before. Is this something to worry about? What would happen if I were to test fire?

Yes, this is something that should not happen.

I would call this NOT-FIXED. Looks like you still need some adjustments to your FCG.

I would go to a non-tapco FCG like the arsenal/k-var or red star (?) adjustable. Or send it back and tell them to make it right this time. They should have known better than to use a single-hook G2 FCG in an NDS3 anyway (I'm assuming that's the combo they started with).
