    7.62 x 51 conversion to 7.62 x 39

    Hey Guys,

Thinking about converting my Sig 716 Patrol from 7.62 x 51 to 7.62 x 39. Is there a conversion kit out there? Trying to save some money on ammo.

Thanks for any help you can send my way.

    Conversion

To start the lower will no work as the mag well is to large, second the upper will not work as the 7.62x 39 does not have the energy to cycle the bolt. The barrel will not work either,
it is a AR15 based weapon.

I just finished my 7.62x 39 build, the barrel was easy to find. The bolts are out there, and you need to modify the firing pin. The magazines are tough to find, I was lucky to find 4 @ $40.00 each, ouch i know, but hope to shoot it enough to make up the savings in ammo.

I did the ceracote FDE myself, used a Ares lower, palmetto upper, YHM 20" barrel, Troy 13" rail

Sounds like I need to shoot less! Can't find a reasonably priced 7.62 x 39 upper.

        Thanks anyway!
