Here are some better pictures of how the rails work and how thick the plates are:
The top rails look like they're separate pieces welded on. Considering how thick the side plates are I'm surprised they're not just milled into the plates.
The trunnions are welded in which makes since. I don't think regular rivets would work. I assume the trigger guard is welded in too.
No center support?
Anyone ever try an AK build with a receiver like this? It looks like a lot of extra work. Any benefit other than coolness? Could you do this with a MIG and a lot of grinding or would this be TIG only?
