    Gunsmith kit?

Iam planning on putting my lower together on my own. i was woundering if I would be better off buying a starter gunsmith kit, or buying the needed tools seperatly. If its better to buy them seperate, where should I buy them at and could you give me a list of what I would need for a AR lower build.
    Thanks

    Here ya go:
Assemble your own AR15 rifle from parts.... for dummies. This post is dedicated to demonstrate how simple it is to assemble your own rifle, from parts. By assembling your own rifle, you can build it t

    Have fun, best regards.

For lowers, you might need couple of pin punches. All other tools you need would be common tools such as plier, screw driver and/or allen wrench. Oh, if you are going to install a CAR buttstock, you will need a good CAR buttstock wrench to handle the castle nut.

If you wanna build your own upper half, most likely you will need a barrel wrench or other multi-function tool, a good vise, Panther Claw, and a sturdy work bench.

If you are going to be a real gunsmith, you will need barrel extension wrench, headspace gauges, lathe and milling machine.

Don't buy those fancy tools like "handguard removal tool" or "detent pin/take down pin installation tool". It's kind of wasting money.

IMHO, a good hobbyist/mechanic/gunsmith should enjoy working with minimal essential tools and find/create their own tools/set up for special applications.

      Happy building!!!

that would have been my answer. not really any need for those "specialty" tools for building an AR lower. pretty straight forward, and easy

heck, i was to lazy to get up and go out to my shop, so instead of installing the mag release pin and the trigger guard pin with punches, i just wrapped my needle nose vise grips jaws with blue painters tape, and taped the lower. i squeezed a bit, tightened the pliers, squeezed a bit, tightened the pliers. worked like a charm......

il give you a tip though. if you need some fairly cheap tools for working on your stuff, buy them from harbor freight. cheap but fairly decent quality ( most of them)

a set of gunsmithing screwdrivers i think runs all of 4.00, a set of pin punches is about 4 bucks, etc.
