Gunsmith question, muzzle brake on a 7mm ram mag

Ok like the title says I have a Remington 700 in 7mm Remington Magnum, I am looking to tame the recoil a bit. I want to shoot this rifle more but the recoil makes my Mosins seem like *****cats!

I want to make it more manigable....at least a little bit. I am thinking of having the barrel threaded so I can install a brake, or should I look at having the barrel ported instead?

Either job, I believe, will be something a gunsmith will need to do. What cost may I be looking at for either job?

    Magnaport does wonders.

There are other ways to reduce recoil w/o making the weapon louder.Rea you using this to hunt? If so get a recoil reducer installed in the stock and put a limb saver pad on it.Otherwise magna port is the way to go.

Not real likely to use this rifle for hunting(not saying it wont be though), mostly for bench shooting at distance. I have thought about recoil reducer and limbsaver as well.

The rifle was inherited to me and is an older model Remington 700, late 60's I believe and the recoil pad on the wood stock is mostly a joke and very hard.

I have even wondered if a Boyds thumbhole stock(or any other brand) might help. Would the thumbhole/pistolgrip type stock do anything for the shoulder recoil?
