Semi Auto MG34 Build

Hot on the heels of my Vickers MMG build here is my next project, Semi auto MG34. Using a very nice kit I came across and a doner receiver I will reweld and convert to semi.

I will be using TNW semi parts and plans

And welding up the top receiver. I was going to rebuild the bottom receiver that was given to me, however decided to find a replacement. It was going to take to long and way more work to rebuild this. I found the top one at IMA.

First I need to salvage some parts off the other receiver. As you can see it would very difficult to rebuild this receiver.

This pin is held in by a cross pin, once that is removed you can press it out.

I like to start getting rid of the full auto features as soon as possible. This is the full auto trip which gets simply ground down.

We also do not need this lever with the semi conversion

So we just take it out. I will put the bolt conversion to the side while I work on getting the receiver cleaned up and re-built. I will use the bolt for test fitting but will finish the semi auto conversion later.

On to cleaning up all the slag left over from demill

As you can see the cuts are bad. At this point I dont care about the actual cuts just the inside and outside. I need to file those edges flat so that the bolt and bolt carrier slide freely through the entire receiver.

And the back section. I am using the charging handle to help hold things in place. It also needs to be fitted and slide freely.
