Laser BoreSight Question - No Flame Please

Stupid me, I bought a laser boresighter but the brake on my 6.8 sticks out far enough that the "probe" part can't get deep enough in to fully seat in the barrel. Are most brakes (its a YHM upper) pinned in place so as to be permanent?
Am I screwed in terms of boresighting this without getting a different boresighter?

Muzzle brake will be pinned if barrel is under 16"
and yeah you're pretty much screwed with that bore sighter.
You could always do it old school and just sight down the bore, then through your sights.

And I minor flame I prefer and have on hand a profesional grade collimator just for this reason. But adapters need to be used to get anything with a sight height over 1.5"

You can get cartridge type laser bore sighters starting at around $5 and up from Amazon.com. I have one of the stem type and have never found it to repeat when I remove and reinsert it.

Use your eyeball, it's free.

Set your upper down on something, look down the barrel and see what it's pointed at, adjust the sights till they're pointed at the same thing. People did the same thing just fine before cheap lasers existed. You'll be on paper just like with the laser, and then adjust after you shoot.
