    FLUTEING THE GOV PROFILE

I decided to try my hand at fluteing, then a nice Cera Cote. Next project is a stainless 8 Flute under handguard with a dimple finish on the end. I did this one without much set up time, the stainless barrel will take more setup time as I will setup the mill with my index fixture and live center to keep the dimples in line.

That looks awesome man. How much are you selling that 18 inch for? And if it isn't for sale, how much you charging to do the flutes?

"Sporter" is what the drooling toothless inbred albino with the hacksaw thinks his newly created "dear riffel" is.
"Bubba" is what he and his ugly and ruined rifle really are.
First you are chopping up historic vintage rifles and sticking them in cheap and nasty looking plastic "dildo" stocks that look like some kind of futuristic sex toy that gay space aliens stick up each other's butts.
Next thing you know, you think "Deliverance" is a love story.

          going to critique your procedures:

          1. parrallels should be placed inside the bottom 90 degrees of a round item. (place lower parallels outside, against the jaw.)

          2. parrallels should be kept vertical... only guaranteed straight accross the wide dimension.

          3. The gas block journal is about .010" larger than the rest of the barrel out front... you should shim the muzzle end to keep even grip from the jaws.

          4. When drilling/dimpling a barrel supported on a live center... keep in mind that the barrel is slightly stiffer when cutting the first row than when you're cutting the last row... consider a support between your trunion and center. You will prevent the barrel from deflecting away from the tool. 2 flute ball end. not 4. I do this a lot.

          5. Dimpling is preferable to fluting when you look at the loss of weight and stiffness. at the saem weight reduction, a dimpled barrel will maintain better spine. BUT KAC has patented the process. Somethin' to think about.

          6. Like the rings around the muzzle. Original.

          7. nice work.

Go deeper! Out front you can get within .07 of the bore. Just make sure the holes dont intersect.
