Wow, we bent 3 punches, and a couple of other pins trying to disassemble the m85 bolt. We submerged them into penetrating oil and there they sit. Hopefully they will be able to be broken down tomorrow. I did a search on the net about m85 bolt dis-assembly and basically found one or two posts about "I broke this, and broke that, and pin moved 1/32 of a inch, etc, etc".
I was wondering if someone has more info, is there a different procedure to do this, It looks like a standard bolt, the single pin that is tapered and smaller on one end (opposite the extractor) needs to be driven up and out, allowing the angled pin to be pushed out (just like a akm bolt)?
We are assuming since they are virgin, something is tighter, or something, we went through good punch after good punch, shortened up, cleaned off bent part. Used some drill rod, used this, used that, NO MOVEMENT except for whatever we were hitting to bend.
Any suggestions or any info? Will soak them in a penetrating oil over night, they have been in it for about 3 hours and were pulled to make the trip home, but now can be soaked some more?
Cant head-space until the .012-.015 ring is removed. And then, with that said, extractor needs to have material added so the slot can be relocated .012-.015 lower for extraction. Brass is TOO valuable to watch it get destroyed, I bought all 4 of these m85's so that as I watch 7.62 become impossible to get, and I read how Wolf/Tula/Silver Bear have said selling to USA is such a pain in the ***, they may stop, well, I must make sure my 5.56 can be reloaded and brass shared across the m85/ar-15 platform.
Thanks in advance,
-John
