I never thought to use an ejector pin as an indicating pin for chamber work. Good Idea
I am not using the ejector pin in a manner that straightness matters.
If you OD grind the head down to the diameter of the bore and then slide the head into the bore, it acts like an indicator.
Slide the head into the bore to the point where your spider jack screws are.
The 10" long shaft gets about 1/4" clamped in the tail stock chuck.
Hang a plumb bob on the stem right outside the barrel.
Set a tents indicator on top of the stem.

Proceed to dialing in bore runout with the front headstock jack screws.
After the front is dialed in, bring the head back out near the breech and dial in the breech using the outboard jack screws on the headstock.
    Easy as pie...

SnapOn is the best IMO. Cost sucks.

However, just get the Stanley set from amazon and the Craftsman roll-pin punch set. Only gtipe about the punch set from Craftsman is it does not come with the smaller punches. In that case, get the Lyman 4 piece set that costs $17 from Sportsmans warehouse. That should cover all your punch set needs.

Good point. But then again the times I broke punches I was not using the tool in the intended manner.
